Former Indian keeper-batter and commentator Parthiv Patel has revealed that the Mumbai Indians (MI) have got the best out of him. Notably, Parthvi played for MI from the IPL 2015 to 2017 seasons.
For the unversed, the former keeper also played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Speaking to former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra, Parthiv revealed that while he enjoyed playing for RCB in IPL 2019, MI got the best out of him.
“I would say MI. And one year at RCB when Gary and Nehra were there. But MI was the franchise where I enjoyed playing. RCB is also a great franchise to play for and they take care of you,” Parthiv said.
Further, Parthiv highlighted the emotional connection that MI built with their players, stating that the franchise ensures they feel valued beyond their performances on the field. Comparing this with CSK, he noted that they maintain the same level of support for their players regardless of whether they score a century or get dismissed for a duck.
“It is very difficult to differentiate. But they would emotionally attach you to the team. That is a very big thing. You could easily get into a phase that you want to play for the money and walk away. But thinking for the team, it comes only when you are emotionally attached and CSK and MI do this. Especially MI, there are always there with you no matter what, even after you have played for them. CSK are the same with you even if you score a hundred or a duck,” he added.
It’s important to note that Parthiv won two IPL titles with MI in 2015 and 2017. Earlier, he also won a title with CSK franchise in the IPL 2010 season.
