Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has heaped praise on the Sri Lankan middle-order batter Sonal Dinusha, who was awarded the player of the match in the second Test against India for his twin centuries in Colombo.
Taking to his X handle, Manjrekar stated that no one can point a finger at Team India for not winning the game. However, he added that everyone should put all those fingers together and clap for Sonal Dinusha.
“No one can point one finger at India for not being able to win the game. In fact, put all those fingers together & join your hands & clap! For SL and one man in particular…Sonal Dinusha,” he posted on his X handle.

Notably, Dinusha scored 420 runs at an average of 140 in four innings as he emerged as the leading run-scorer in the series. While Dinusha scored 103 runs in the first innings, he scored a 133-run unbeaten knock in the second innings.
On the other hand, Indian skipper Shubman Gill has also shared his views on the Sri Lankan batters standing tall on Day 4 and Day 5 of the second Test in Colombo. Moreover, he also revealed Team India’s positives from the two-match series.
“We fielded for about 250 overs, three days consecutively, and we did everything we can. They played brilliantly. I think the batters played really well, and they had a lot of skill and a little bit of luck going their way. So I don’t think we could have done anything differently,” Shubman Gill said at the post-match presentation.
“A lot of positives for us, even learning from the opposition. I think the position that they were under, under immense pressure, and the way they came back was tremendous to see. It sort of tells us, and we were talking in lunch and at tea time, that I don’t think that we could have done (anything) differently. But in the series, a lot of positives for us. Padikkal was brilliant, KL was really good, Manav bowled brilliantly, and Prasidh in both the innings, bent their back, both the fast bowlers. So I think we did everything we can,” he concluded.
