On Thursday, September 24, ANI reported that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 mini-auction will be held in Goa in December, confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia.
Interestingly, the forthcoming IPL 2027 auction will be the last mini-auction of the ongoing 2023-27 cycle. According to Cricinfo, the mini-auction is scheduled in the second week of December.
“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations – Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year – we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia told ANI.
Further, Saikia confirmed that the IPL 2027 season will commence at the end of March 2027. However, the official start and end dates aren’t confirmed yet. On the other hand, there have been a few player and personnel changes to a few franchises ahead of the new season.
While Rishabh Pant returned to the Delhi Capitals (DC), Kuldeep Yadav has been traded to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have appointed the former left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan as their new head coach for one year.
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are in search of a new captain after Ajinkya Rahane retired from all forms of the game. Also, Mumbai Indians roped in former Indian first-class cricketer Zubin Bharucha as Director of Performance.
It’s important to note that the IPL 2023 auction was the last event held in India. The subsequent events were hosted in Dubai, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi, respectively. However, the IPL 2028 mega auction is set to take place overseas.
On the other hand, the BCCI also announced that the mini-auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi on Wednesday, October 28, with the player retention deadline being Monday, September 28.
