Delhi Capitals (DC), on Wednesday, October 21, appointed former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra as their spin-bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season, which will commence in March next year.
“The OG Tiger has returned! Amit Mishra, our highest-ever wicket-taker, is now our spin-bowling coach,” DC took to social media platforms to unveil the official news.

Mishra last featured in the IPL in 2024, having represented four franchises during his career: Delhi Capitals, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants. He has claimed 174 wickets in the tournament.
Mishra will join the coaching staff alongside former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who has been appointed assistant and batting coach; former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who was appointed as head coach; and former Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas, who joined as fast bowling coach.
Mishra’s appointment could prove beneficial for DC’s spin-bowling resources, particularly Zeeshan Ansari, who joined the franchise through a trade deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad that saw T Natarajan move the other way. Leg-spinners Vipraj Nigam and Rehan Ahmed could also benefit from Mishra’s expertise.
DC have made significant changes to their coaching setup ahead of the IPL 2027 season. Sourav Ganguly has taken over as head coach, while Yuvraj Singh was appointed assistant and batting coach on October 13. Former Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas has also joined the franchise as its fast-bowling coach.
