“I played him in the IPL” - Lockie Ferguson looking forward to playing against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

New Zealand ace pacer Lockie Ferguson has stated that he is looking forward to bowling to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the forthcoming five-match series against India at home, which commences on Thursday, October 22.

Notably, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been selected for the forthcoming New Zealand T20I tour. Speaking to reporters ahead of the series, Ferguson termed the 15-year-old batting prodigy as ‘unreal talent’.

“I played him in the IPL. He’s proper talent. He’s unreal talent. It’s no surprise that he’s been pushed into the Indian squad. I think he’s done IPL back-to-back seasons and been exceptional,” Ferguson said.

“So yeah, looking forward to a challenge that comes with New Zealand. Obviously it’s his first time here, I imagine. I’m not sure if he’s played cricket here before. But yeah, it’s going to be an awesome series,” he added.

“India’s unreal side, we know that. But hosting them in New Zealand is going to be real awesome,” Ferguson concluded.

Sooryavanshi has played eight T20Is and has amassed 246 runs at an average of 30.75 and a strike rate of 186.36, with two half-centuries. He is currently part of India’s T20I squad for the five-match series against the West Indies.
