Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Subramaniam Badrinath shared his views on dashing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal not finding a spot in the ODI squad for the forthcoming tour of New Zealand.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Badrinath sympathised with Jaiswal after the opener was left out of the playing XI for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies at home and subsequently dropped from the ODI squad.
“His (Jaiswal) situation is very tough. He keeps performing and is doing everything on his part. He has no place in the T20I side already. He scored a century against South Africa and Afghanistan, yet didn’t play against the West Indies and is now out against New Zealand. I feel for him because he is playing well and is at his peak,” Badrinath said.
Further, Badrinath added that Jaiswal is struggling to secure a place in the playing XI due to the presence of an experienced player like Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s position as captain. He felt the youngster was unfortunate to miss out, stressing that his exclusion was not related to his performances.
“He’s finding it hard to break into the team because of the presence of a senior player like Rohit Sharma. The opener, Shubman Gill, is the captain. That’s the only reason why Jaiswal is missing out. It’s bad luck that he’s not playing for reasons other than performance,” he added.
