India will travel to New Zealand for five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests, and the BCCI recently announced a split squad for the ODI series. The ODI series will be played with the first game on November 4 in Auckland, the second on November 7 in Wellington, the third game on November 10 in Hamilton, and the fourth and fifth games will be played in Mount Maunganui on November 13 and 15.
India has named two separate squads for the ODI series, with four of the Test team-bound players leaving the ODI squad for the Test-ball games. Today, we take a look at the four players who will leave the India ODI squad after the first three ODIs.
Here are the 4 Indian players who leave the squad after the first three NZ vs. IND ODIs:
- Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna is still at the CoE trying to pass a fitness test after he was pulled out of the West Indies ODI series during the second match due to a hamstring injury. Krishna has been named in the India ODI squad, depending on his fitness. He is also in the Test squad, and the BCCI will have him leave the ODI series after the first three games and join the Test squad. Prasidh has 53 wickets in 30 ODIs with a best of 5/43 with an economy of 5.97.
- Anshul Kamboj
Anshul Kamboj, who has played only one Test and ODI for India, will also leave the ODI squad after the first three ODIs to join the red-ball squad for the two Tests. He is expected to play one of the India A games to get into the red-ball rhythm. Kamboj had a tough international debut for India, and he would like to impress if he gets a chance to play in any of the two Tests.
- KL Rahul
KL Rahul is the vice-captain of the Indian Test team and one of the openers as well. Rahul has been in prime form in Tests in 2026, with 235 runs in 3 games, with one ton and one fifty, with an average of 58.75. This will be the first time Rahul plays Tests in New Zealand; it will be a testing time for the opener under swinging and seaming conditions. Rahul will be crucial for India if they want to win in New Zealand and keep their World Test Championship (WTC) 2027 hopes alive.
- Shubman Gill
India ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill will also leave the ODI series after the first three games to prepare for the Test matches. He is carrying his own net bowlers to New Zealand, paying for them out of his own pocket. Gill is also slated to play in India. A game before the two-test series begins and will look to make the quick switch from ODIs to Tests to help India keep their dream of making it into the WTC final alive. Shubman Gill has already made fifty and a century in three Tests he has played in 2026.
