The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla dismissed the rumours over the Indian talismanic opening batter Rohit Sharma’s future, stating that there is no question of Hitman bidding adieu from international cricket.
Over the past few days, there have been a lot of rumours over Rohit’s future during the recently concluded three-match ODI series against England. However, Rohit smacked a 138-run knock in the third and final ODI at Lord’s.
In a recent interaction with reporters, Shukla dismissed any rumours and gave a clear reply on what lies ahead for Rohit Sharma. He aslo backed India’s current leadership, adding that there is no need for changes at the top.
“Rohit Sharma is a part of our team and is continuing to play. The things being circulated in the media and on social media have no meaning. As of now, there is no question of his retirement,” Shukla told reporters.
“Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the decision on who stays in the team and who does not rests with the selectors. The Indian team is performing well and winning matches, so there is no need for any changes at present,” he said.
On the other hand, the England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler was elated to receive a signed Team India jersey from the veteran Indian opener Rohit following the conclusion of the ODI series against India at home.
“One opposition player’s shirt I’ve always wanted. One of my all-time favourite players. Will treasure this; thank you, @rohitsharma45,” Buttler posted on his Instagram handle.
